Ashley Victoria Benson was born on December 18, 1989 in Long Beach, California. Born two months early and weighing only 2 pounds 8 ounces, tiny Ashley was placed in ICU and her parents were told that she would need heart surgery on Christmas day. Miraculously enough, after another checkup before she was to have surgery, the doctors found that her heart had closed up on its own and she did not need to have surgery after all. She truly is her family’s little Christmas miracle.
Ashley was homeschooled by her parents growing up and started taking part in the performing arts at a very early age. By 3 years old she was taking ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and vocal lessons. When she was 4 years old she was asked to audition for a solo and perform for her 2,500(+/-) member church at the four Christmas services they were to hold and she did just that. By the age of 8 she had a modeling contract with Ford Models and at the age of 10 she began her acting career by starring in a Domino’s Pizza commercial.
In 2002, at the age of 13, she got her big break in the industry with guest roles on the television shows Nikki, The District and The West Wing.
2004 was an even greater year for her when she was cast in the role of Abby Deveraux on the popular daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives. That same year, she was also cast in her first film role as one of the Six Chick’s in 13 Going on 30 alongside Jennifer Garner.
In 2005 she appeared in quite a few guest roles including the shows Zoey 101 and 7th Heaven and in 2006 she appeared alongside her Pretty Little Liars co-star Janel Parrish in an episode of The O.C..
2007 and 2008 were big years for Ashley as well in that her role on Days of Our Lives came to an end, she had a starring role in the film Bring It On: In It To Win It, among other films and she had guest starring roles in such television shows as CSI: Miami and Supernatural.
In 2009 she was cast in the role of Mia in Eastwick in which she played the teenage daughter of Rebecca Romijn’s character Roxie.
Ashley is currently filming Pretty Little Liars for ABC Family in which she will portray Hannah Marin, the most beautiful and popular girl at Rosewood Day. Pretty Little Liars will begin airing on June 8, 2010.
In addition to all of her television and film work, she has also performed in numerous theater productions, been featured in multiple music videos and appeared in over 35 commercials.
